Fiction Reading Lists
When searching our Top Tips for fiction you are presented with two search options:
Searches the OPAC Searches the KLASS GoodReads shelves
Sometimes readers get a mental block about what to read next and an excellent website to refer to to find similar authors is Literature Map.
Recommended Fiction Reading
All schools dream of having authoritative lists of fiction to recommend to students... it is easy to suggest but difficult to achieve.
To help to move us in this direction we have now made these KLASS Top Tips for a range of genres. These lists are not intended to be definitive, they are lists that are open to negotiation and we welcome suggested changes from students, staff and the wider school community.
We would appreciate it if English teachers could find time discuss the use of these lists with their classes and encourage debate on making them better. Please bear in mind that a list will try to reflect an average level reader in a year group and where possible tries to give a balance to avoid gender bias in recommendations. An advanced reader can always look to the list above their year group but these are all very high quality and we recommend that you only look upward when you have read the titles recommended for your year group.
We really hope this helps you to choose JUST RIGHT BOOKS... do you remember the Goldilocks Rule for choosing fiction from primary school?
