Last week we read the award-winning book 'There's a Tiger in the Garden' by Lizzy Stewart. As part of our curriculum in the library, we aim to develop children's responses different books, in a variety of ways. Sometimes we might act, sometimes we might draw, this time we are making a model dragonfly as they appear in the book. The lesson comprised of us looking at a nonfiction book about dragonflies, linking the fiction and nonfiction text and building their interest and experiences. When it is finished we will put it on display in KS1 Library. Books can inspire us in many ways and we hope that through modelling this, our students will begin to see the creative potential in all books and how inspirational books can be.
